RIP Wallace; farewell to ewes and gimmers; 2016 yarn

2016 Rosedean Ryelands yarn

Sadly, we had to have Wallace put to sleep this week. He relapsed into lameness and, frankly, his spark had gone. It was very peaceful, on a lovely summer day, under his favourite tree.

We also said “goodbye” to our twelve breeding ewes and gimmers – that was rather less final as they went off to their new home near Arbroath.

We brought the ewe lambs, Juno and Niamh, back from our grazing so we have twenty sheep here currently – fourteen ewe lambs, Teddy the wether, and five oldies – Jinx, Juno, Niamh, Lucy and Pixie.

The six tup lambs are still at our grazing and will stay there until October time.

We were delighted to take delivery of the knitting yarn from our 2016 clip. We have two batches – a light one and a dark one.

Very pleased with them and they’ll be in the on-line shop very soon.
